NAZANIN - documentary theatre / Marta Nordal (Reykjavík)

,,We must not enable anyone to impose his personal view regarding religion on others by force, oppression or pressure’’ (Shirin Ebadi)

,, There are 25 years since I was born in 1988.  There are 35 years since the revolution, when Iran became an Islamic state. There are 35 years since women are obliged to wear hijab, since censorship was brought on, since freedom was restricted. There are 35 years since everything changed. And even though things were bad before , they got even worse’’.

Nazanin is a political refugee who fled from Iran after the presidential election in 2009 and ended up in Iceland. Now 6 years later she tells her story on stage.

Actress and director Marta Nordal has in recent years staged highly interesting work with "Aldrei Óstelandi" - a theatre group she formed along with Edda Björg Eyjólfsdóttir. Adapting classical Icelandic drama and novels for the theatre, Marta Nordal has focused on the relationship between acting and the use of soundscape / music on stage. She is recipient of the prestigious DV-Cultural Awards 2015.

NAZANIN
