Innkaupapokinn (The Shopping Bag) is a piece woven by the theatre group Kriðpleir around the world of Elísabet Jökulsdóttir and her play Mundu töfrana (Remember the Magic). In Elísabet’s work—originally written in 1992—Ella and her brother, the Clown, search for "the Child" to bring it a tear, enabling it to mourn its father and continue its own existence. For over thirty years, the script has been something of an outcast in Icelandic theatre, never making it to the stage despite the author’s tireless efforts and constant revisions. However, new hope has emerged after Ragnar Ísleifur Bragason—a member of Kriðpleir—learned of Elísabet’s arduous journey; he is now eager to come to the rescue of his aunt, Elísabet, with the help of his fellow group members. Some might say this is a case of jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. Reviving old magic is, after all, far from trouble-free...

Kriðpleir is one of the most active groups on the Icelandic performing arts scene. The group has created around a dozen works for stage and radio, performed them both at home and abroad, and received numerous nominations for the Gríma, The Icelandic Performing Arts Awards.
