Gagnkynhneigð-Landsátak

The Case of Heterosexuals is a brand new performance lecture by the Icelandic collective

Kviss búmm bang that stages a nationwide awareness campaign about the heterosexual

lifestyle. The work puts heterosexuality and cisgender identity as cultural norms in the

spotlight rather than treating them as invisible defaults and in doing so invites the audience

to reflect on ideas of privilege, identity and belonging while questioning what gets to be

considered normal and what not.

The three members of Kviss búmm bang will perform the hosts of the show on stage. The

performance itself consists of entertaining lectures on the historical roots, meaning and

value of heterosexuality, landline calls will be made to „our people“ in other parts of the

country; other cities and rural communities, and the heterosexual society will show the

audience what kind of fun the heterosexual lifestyle can offer. This will be an evening filled

with song and dance, romance and arousal that promises to finally provide the

heterosexuals with their proper place on the spectrum of the rainbow.

“Kviss búmm bang sincerely believes that providing heterosexual people with

the nurture and care they so desperately need - as is evidenced by a certain

backlash in the expression of hate towards the queer society - will provide a

better world for the whole spectrum”
