Requiem

REQUIEM is a twelve-hour funeral for humanity, premiering at Nitja Centre for Contemporary Art in Oslo on February 6, 2027, in collaboration with Black Box Teater in Oslo.

Death is pressing in. Ecological grief, natural disasters, war, and genocide are occupying an increasingly large space in the world. In our Western reality, however, death remains theoretical—a smoldering, ominous mantra in public discourse. How can the inherent liturgy of the theatrical setting engage in a dialogue with religious aesthetics to create a comforting communal space for rest, reflection, and solidarity?

REQUIEM will be a visceral, immersive, and emotionally nurturing space where the audience breathes, lives, and inhabits the concept and all its narratives alongside the performers. A community united by the most undeniable of shared human facts: we are all going to die. A Requiem for humanity!

REQUIEM will take the form of a twelve-hour performance meditating on our mortal transience. The piece is being developed throughout 2026 across four laboratories—*Dead Theater*, Dead Dinner, Preparing the Corps, and Eternal Sleep—all of which will culminate in open public showings.
